Point Linley Reef, also known as Linley Point Reef, is a shallow rocky reef shelf extending off Fishermans Beach in Mornington, on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. Made up of a series of boulders and slabs dropping to 10 metres, this site offers excellent shore-entry snorkeling in the sheltered waters of Port Phillip Bay. Follow the reef north toward the marker pylon to find depth changes, rocky crevices, and abundant marine life. The adjacent Fishermans Beach boat ramp provides easy access, but snorkelers must remain vigilant of boat and jet-ski traffic.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Moderate risk: Boat and jet-ski traffic

Fishermans Beach has an active boat ramp; boats and PWCs operate through the channel. Snorkelers should carry a dive flag or SMB and stay visible.

  • Low risk: Slippery boat ramp surface

The concrete boat ramp can be very slippery, especially when wet or covered in algae. Safer to use the rocks at the western end of the ramp area.

  • Low risk: Fishing lines

Anglers sometimes fish from the point. Snorkelers risk entanglement; carrying a dive knife or line cutter is recommended.
