Pixie Bommie (also known as Pixie Pinnacle) is a spectacular isolated coral pinnacle rising 30 metres from the seafloor, with its peak just 2 metres below the surface, on the remote Ribbon Reefs of the northern Great Barrier Reef. This standalone bommie is a vibrant pyramid of hard and soft corals, swarming with reef fish, sea turtles, and pelagic visitors. Its dramatic vertical profile makes it a magnet for marine life and a top-tier snorkel site — snorkellers can drift over the shallow summit while divers explore the sheer walls. Accessible only by liveaboard, this is a pristine, untouched reef experience.

Moderate risk: Strong tidal currents
The Ribbon Reefs experience strong tidal flows that can sweep snorkellers away from the bommie. Best snorkelled at slack tide.
Moderate risk: Remote offshore location
Open ocean site with no nearby land. Snorkellers must remain with their boat group at all times.
Low risk: Marine stingers (jellyfish)
Stinger season runs from November to May. Box jellyfish and Irukandji may be present.
