Parker Point Snorkel Trail on Rottnest Island (Wadjemup) is an 800-metre self-guided underwater trail that follows a limestone ridge through the Parker Point Marine Sanctuary Zone. Twelve interpretive plaques anchored on the seabed teach snorkelers about the abundant marine flora and fish life as they drift over seagrass meadows and coral reefs in calm, shallow waters (1–5 m deep). The trail starts from a sandy beach on the island's protected southern side, offering easy shore entry and crystal-clear visibility — perfect for beginners wanting a guided reef experience without venturing far from shore.

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Low risk: Outgoing tide current

Mild currents can develop near the reef edge, especially during outgoing tides; plaques have handles to hold onto.

  • Low risk: Cool water temperatures

Winter water temperatures can drop to 11–17°C, increasing risk of cold shock without a wetsuit.

  • Low risk: Marine life stingers

Occasional bluebottles and stinging plankton can be present, particularly in warmer months (Nov–Mar).

  • Low risk: No lifeguards on duty

There are no lifeguards stationed at the bay; swimmers should assess conditions and swim within their ability.

  • Low risk: Marine Sanctuary Zone restrictions

Little Salmon Bay is a Marine Sanctuary Zone; fishing and collecting marine life are strictly prohibited.

  • Low risk: Changing weather conditions

Winds and swell can pick up suddenly, reducing visibility and creating choppy conditions. Check forecasts before entering.

  • Low risk: Boat traffic

The trail is offshore from the MAAC clubhouse and active boat ramp area. Stay aware of vessel movements.

  • Low risk: Cold water temperature

Winter water temperatures can drop to 15–16°C; even summer temps average 18–22°C. A wetsuit is recommended for comfort.
