Park Beach and the adjacent Coffs Harbour Jetty (Jetty Beach) offer a blend of open-ocean beach snorkeling and sheltered harbour entry. Park Beach is a patrolled, year-round surf beach stretching north of the CBD. On the southern side, the historic Coffs Harbour Jetty shelters a calm, protected swimming and snorkeling area inside the harbour — the shallow sandy bottom and sheltered conditions make it ideal for beginners and families. The entire area lies at the doorstep of the Solitary Islands Marine Park, meaning the marine life is superb. Snorkelers can explore around the jetty pylons where small fish congregate, or head into the marine park via a tour for more dramatic reef encounters.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Moderate risk: Rip currents

Strong rips can develop along Park Beach, especially after swell periods. Swim between the red and yellow flags.

  • Moderate risk: Surf and rip currents (Park Beach)

Park Beach faces the open ocean and can experience strong surf and rip currents, especially during southerly swells. Swim between the flags during patrol hours.

  • Low risk: Surf conditions

Moderate to large surf can create hazardous shorebreak and turbulent conditions near the rocky headland.

  • Low risk: Bluebottle jellyfish

Bluebottles (Physalia physalis) can drift inshore with northeasterly winds, particularly in warmer months.

  • Low risk: Boating traffic (Jetty area)

The jetty precinct is an active harbour with boat traffic. Snorkelers should stay within designated swimming areas and remain vigilant of vessels.

  • Low risk: Bluebottle stings

Bluebottle jellyfish (Portuguese man o' war) can appear on the North Coast, particularly during spring and summer.

  • Low risk: Outgoing tide current (Jetty channel)

The outflow from the harbour can create a moderate current around the jetty entrance on an outgoing tide.
