Osprey Bay offers a rare snorkeling experience where you can float alongside grazing green sea turtles in expansive seagrass meadows just metres from the shore. Located within Cape Range National Park on the Ningaloo Reef, this shallow 1–3 m bay is famous for its resident turtle population and the occasional dugong sighting. The seabed alternates between seagrass pastures (left of the boat ramp) and coral patches (right of the boat ramp), giving snorkelers two distinct worlds to explore. With easy beach access from a small boat ramp, calm conditions, and excellent water visibility in light winds, it is a must-visit for wildlife lovers on any Ningaloo itinerary.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Low risk: Southerly Wind Chop

Strong south to south-westerly winds can stir up the bay, reducing visibility to less than 1 m and creating choppy conditions. Best avoided on windy days.

  • Low risk: Marine Stingers (Jellyfish)

Box jellyfish and other stingers may be present during warmer months. Wearing a full-body stinger suit is recommended.
