Olive Point on Middle Island's northern side is a premier snorkel destination within the Keppel Bay Islands National Park on the Southern Great Barrier Reef. The site features a headland with fringing coral reefs that are notably more diverse than other parts of the island, with hard and soft corals forming vibrant gardens just offshore. Known for regular sightings of olive sea snakes (which give the point its name), turtles, nudibranchs, and occasional dugongs, this spot offers calm conditions and clear water during the cooler months. The reef drops off gently from the shoreline, making it accessible for snorkelers of varying abilities.

Moderate risk: Stinger Season (Jellyfish)
Marine stingers (including box jellyfish and Irukandji) are present in the Keppel Bay waters during the warmer months. Full-body stinger suits recommended.
Low risk: Tidal Currents
Outgoing tidal currents can be moderate around the headland and may carry swimmers away from the shore.
Low risk: Seasonal Sargassum Growth
Seasonal sargassum seaweed can accumulate in the shallows, reducing visibility and making entry/exit slippery.
Low risk: Boat Traffic
Boat traffic in the channel between Middle Island and Great Keppel Island requires caution when snorkeling near the headland.
