Located at the mouth of the Barwon River on Victoria's Bellarine Peninsula, the Barwon Coast (SSW Ocean Grove) encompasses the Barwon Bluff Marine Sanctuary — a 17-hectare protected reef system where sandstone and basalt formations meet Bass Strait. Snorkellers explore vibrant kelp forests, sponge gardens, and sandstone arches in clear waters ranging 2–14 m deep. The site offers a fascinating underwater landscape shaped by wind, tides, and wave action, with rocky reef platforms, gutters, and the remains of the 1853 shipwreck Earl of Charlemont on the outer reef edge.
