A sunken steel hopper barge resting in 8 m of water just 180 m off Fremantle's North Mole, this is one of Perth's most accessible shore wrecks. Originally destined for a deep-water graveyard, the barge was raised and relocated in 1988 to preserve its popularity with divers. The broken-up wreckage hosts abundant marine growth on its steel plates and boiler, with a shallow depth that makes it equally suited to confident snorkelers and shore-entry divers. A pole trail with stainless steel markers now guides the way, making navigation straightforward. Protected from the southwest swell by the North Mole, it delivers surprisingly calm conditions for an ocean wreck site.

Moderate risk: Long surface swim
The wreck lies 180 m offshore — a substantial distance for snorkelers. Tired swimmers may struggle in open water.
Moderate risk: Swell conditions
Diving conditions are best when swell is under 1.5 m. Larger swell creates surge and reduced safety.
Moderate risk: Boat traffic
Located 180 m off the North Mole near the Fremantle Harbour entrance; vessels transit the area. Snorkelers should be vigilant.
Low risk: Variable visibility
Visibility is highly variable, ranging from 1–10 m. Poor conditions can disorient swimmers and divers.
Low risk: Slippery entry ramp
The boat ramp and disabled access ramp can be slippery with algae and marine growth.
Low risk: Strong currents
Tidal currents sweeping around the North Mole can be strong, particularly during outgoing tides near Fremantle Harbour.
