Ninepin Point Marine Reserve protects an extraordinary marine environment where dark, tannin-rich freshwater from the Huon River overlays saltwater of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel. This unique stratification causes deep-water species to appear in unusually shallow depths, making it a prized shore-dive and snorkel site. Rocky reefs draped in kelp and spectacular macro life reward those who explore its dark, tea-coloured waters. Best visibility occurs during winter months.
