Navy Pier, located on the Bundegi Reef coastline 14 km from Exmouth, is consistently ranked among the world's top ten land-based dive sites. This working Australian Navy pier stretches 300 m into the Gulf of Exmouth, its submerged pylons blanketed in soft corals and sponges. The structure acts as a marine oasis in the arid seabed, attracting over 200 fish species — from giant Queensland gropers and grey nurse sharks to swirling schools of big-eye trevally, barracuda, and colourful reef fish like Moorish idols, butterflyfish, and painted sweetlip. Maximum depth is 15 m, making it accessible for snorkellers of varying skill, though strong tidal currents mean visits are strictly timed to slack tide.

High risk: Defence Restricted Area
Navy Pier is an active Australian Navy facility. Access is prohibited without a licensed tour operator. Strict security protocols apply; directions from Defence personnel must be followed without question.
Moderate risk: Strong Tidal Currents
Powerful tidal flows around the pier structure. Snorkelling/diving is only possible during slack tide; currents can quickly sweep swimmers away if timed incorrectly.
Low risk: Limited Visibility
Visibility typically ranges from 3–10 m depending on weather, tides, and swell conditions. Can drop rapidly after wind or rain events, making navigation around pylons challenging.
