Moderate risk: Rip currents
Deep channels between rocks can create strong rip currents during larger swell events.
Moderate risk: Large coastal swell (rare)
Though typically protected, occasional southerly swells can push into the bay, creating stronger shore breaks and currents.
Moderate risk: Rogue Waves
Even on slight swell days, larger rogue waves can wash into the pool unexpectedly.
Low risk: Swell and surf conditions
Exposed sections can experience ocean swell and breaking waves, especially during southerly winds.
Low risk: Rocky shoreline
Sharp rocks and boulders at entry and exit points require care when wading in and out.
Low risk: Rock bar at low tide
A central rock bar splits the beach at low tide, creating shallow rocky areas that can be hazardous if waded across barefoot.
Low risk: Low tide rockpool hazards
Rocky channels and pools house sharp barnacles and sea urchins. Protective footwear recommended.
Low risk: Sharp Rocks
Sharp rocks surround the pools and the path between them. Water shoes strongly recommended.
Low risk: Low Tide Shallowness
At low tide the pools become very shallow, limiting swimming depth and increasing rock exposure.
Low risk: Slippery Rocks Underfoot
Rocks at the pool entry and between pools can be slippery when wet, especially in bare feet.
