Australia's first underwater museum, set on the vibrant John Brewer Reef about 65 km off Townsville. Here, Jason deCaires Taylor's extraordinary Coral Greenhouse (the world's largest underwater art structure) and the Ocean Sentinels snorkel trail rise from the seabed among bommies and coral gardens. Snorkelers float over 4–6 m deep sculptures that double as artificial reefs, while the surrounding reef teems with Acropora, staghorn and plate corals, batfish, butterflyfish and damsels. The protected site is calm and currents are minimal, making it a rare blend of world-class art and pristine Great Barrier Reef marine life.
