Tucked within Mimosa Rocks National Park on the Sapphire Coast, Murrah Beach pairs a sweeping ocean beach with the calm, shallow waters of Murrah Lagoon. The lagoon's protected sandy bottom makes it an ideal spot for a tranquil snorkel, while the adjacent surf beach offers a more energetic swell. The surrounding bushland backdrop and absence of crowds give this spot a wild, secluded feel — just you, the tea-coloured lagoon, and the gentle rhythm of the South Coast.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Moderate risk: Lagoon channel rip current

A narrow deep channel in Murrah Lagoon can produce strong rip currents. Swim away from the channel mouth.

  • Low risk: Ocean surf conditions

The ocean beach side can have moderate surf and shore breaks. Snorkel in the lagoon side for calmer conditions.
