Murphy's Reef is an expansive offshore reef complex located roughly 43 kilometres east of Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast. Rising to just 3–5 metres below the surface, this submerged reef system features an abundance of hard and soft corals, bommies, and ledges that attract a diverse array of marine life. Its shallow depths and relatively protected waters make it a rewarding boat-based snorkeling destination, offering clear conditions and the chance to explore a thriving underwater ecosystem away from the beach crowds.

Getting in
Murphy's Reef lies about 43 km east of Mooloolaba, Sunshine Coast. Launch from the Mooloolaba boat ramps (adjacent to the Mooloolah River) and head east-northeast. GPS marks are often shared in local fishing communities. Navigate with care as the reef is submerged with no visible surface marker.
Parking is available at the Mooloolaba boat ramp precinct off Parkyn Parade, Mooloolaba. Arrive early on weekends as spaces fill quickly.
No direct fee for the reef itself. Mooloolaba boat ramp may have launch fees or require a Queensland boat ramp permit.
