Moruya Main Beach is a long, wide stretch of golden sand on the NSW South Coast, backed by grassy reserves and the Moruya Heads headland. The beach faces south-east into the Tasman Sea and offers a mix of gentle breaks near the surf club and stronger swells further along. Snorkellers favour the northern end near the Moruya River mouth and the rocky southern headland, where protected gutters and shallow reef flats hold fish life in clear conditions. The adjacent Surf Lifesaving Club patrols during summer, making this a family-friendly spot with picnic areas, toilets, and a playground in the reserve behind the beach.

Moderate risk: River mouth current
Strong outgoing currents near the Moruya River mouth, especially on falling tides. Can sweep swimmers and snorkellers offshore.
Moderate risk: Surf break and shore dump
Moderate to heavy surf breaks can develop, particularly during southerly swells. Shore dump waves at the steep northern end cause injury.
Moderate risk: Rip currents
Unpatrolled sections of the beach may have rips. Swim between the red-and-yellow flags during patrol hours (summer).
Low risk: Marine stingers
Bluebottles and occasional jellyfish may be present in warmer months.
