Middle Grounds is an offshore reef system sitting at the entrance to Jervis Bay on the NSW South Coast — a raised island of reef rising from a sandy seafloor inside the protected waters of the bay. The reef forms a series of sandstone terraces and steps that drop toward the open ocean, offering snorkelers a chance to explore temperate rocky habitat in the clear, sheltered waters of Jervis Bay Marine Park. Its position in the middle of the bay entrance means it catches tidal flow, keeping water quality high and attracting diverse marine life.
