Mica Beach is a 400-metre stretch of east-facing golden sand on the Cox Peninsula, just south of Mandorah, Darwin Harbour. The 'bommies' (offshore rocky reef formations) just off the beach create a sheltered snorkeling zone where coral bommies rise from the sandy seabed, attracting small reef fish. With calm conditions typical during the dry season, the beach offers easy shore-entry snorkeling set against a backdrop of coastal bushland and WWII heritage remnants. The site is known for its uncrowded waters, clear visibility on a low tide, and the chance to spot sea turtles and rays cruising between the bommie patches.
