McGregor Rock (also known as McGregor Reef) at Quiet Corner is a sandstone rock platform extending from the shore on the Mornington Peninsula. Located near the boundary of Black Rock, this sheltered shore-entry site offers moderately shallow waters over a reef system with ledges, rock pools, and kelp beds. It's a lesser-known spot where snorkelers can explore temperate reef life in surprisingly clear conditions on calm days, away from the crowds of the more popular piers.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Moderate risk: Swell & Surge

Exposed to ocean swell; can create dumping waves and surge over the reef on windy days.

  • Low risk: Sharp Reef & Rock Platforms

Sandstone reef ledges and platforms can be sharp; cut-proof footwear recommended.

  • Low risk: Changing Tides

Tidal movement can affect water depth and create unseen currents over the reef.
