Man and Wife Rocks are twin rocky outcrops nestled between Outer Rock and Great Keppel Island in the Capricorn Coast's Southern Great Barrier Reef. These granite boulder islands rise from the ocean surrounded by shallow rocky reefs and plateau drop-offs from 6-8m that descend to 18m, creating diverse dive terrain. The site features soft corals clinging to the rock faces, coral gardens around 10m depth, and gutters where marine life congregates. Best accessed by boat tour from Yeppoon or Great Keppel Island, this spot offers excellent snorkeling for all experience levels with calm conditions and a rich underwater landscape.

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Moderate risk: Channel currents

Tidal currents can run strongly through the channels between the islands, particularly around the rocks.

  • Moderate risk: Depth drop-offs

The plateau drops sharply from 6–8 m to 18 m, and maximum depth reaches 25 m; snorkellers should stay within comfortable depth limits.

  • Low risk: Boat traffic

Vessel traffic from tour boats and fishing charters in the area.

  • Low risk: Sharp coral/rock

Sharp coral and rocky overhangs with potential for cuts and scrapes.

  • Low risk: Boat traffic in channel

The site lies between Outer Rock and Great Keppel Island in a busy boating channel; snorkellers and divers should be vigilant for vessel traffic.

  • Low risk: Currents around rocky outcrops

Moderate tidal currents can run around the rock faces and through the gutters, especially during tidal changes.

  • Low risk: Strong currents between outcrops

Currents can run through the channel between the two rocks, especially during outgoing tides.

  • Low risk: Sharp rocky terrain

Granite boulders and rocky reef edges can be sharp — wear protective footwear and take care when entering or exiting.
