Maggies is a remote, wild beach snorkeling spot along the rugged coastline north of Carnarvon, Western Australia, accessible only via 4WD tracks. This isolated stretch of white sand and turquoise water sits on the edge of the Shark Bay Marine Park, offering calm clear conditions on good days for swimming and snorkeling straight off the beach. It's part of a string of coastal camping nodes including Elle's Beach and 14 Mile, known for excellent fish life, rays, and the occasional turtle. The raw beauty and solitude make it a favourite among off-grid adventurers.

Moderate risk: 4WD-only access track
The sandy unsealed tracks to Maggies require a high-clearance 4WD vehicle, especially after rain or in soft sand conditions.
Moderate risk: Remote location
Maggies is isolated with no mobile reception or services nearby. Self-sufficiency is essential — bring water, food, and recovery gear.
Low risk: Swell and wind conditions
Snorkeling conditions are weather-dependent. Onshore winds and southerly swells can churn the water, reducing visibility and creating challenging surf entry.
Low risk: Marine stingers
Box jellyfish and other marine stingers may be present during warmer months, particularly November through April.

Getting in
From Carnarvon, head north along the coastal route via Gnaraloo Road. The turnoff to Maggies is via unsealed 4WD tracks running north of the Quobba Blowholes area, past 14 Mile and Sandy Point. High-clearance 4WD is essential — standard vehicles will not manage the soft sand.
Ungrouped beachside parking on the sand. No formal car park.
No entry fees. Maggies is on unmanaged coastal Crown land and station lease area, free to access.
