Luncheon Bay, at the northern tip of Hook Island in the Whitsundays, is a sheltered snorkeller's paradise with easy beach-entry swimming over vibrant coral bommies, caves, and crevasses. The shallow fringing reef teems with butterflyfish, damselfish, emperor angelfish, and batfish, while blue-spotted rays and reef sharks patrol the sandy gullies. Colourful leather corals, boulder corals, and meadows of Xenia soft corals carpet the bommies, making every snorkel a kaleidoscopic experience. Sheltered from prevailing winds, the bay offers calm, clear conditions ideal for beginners and intermediate snorkellers exploring the Great Barrier Reef's northern Whitsundays.
