The circular lake measures roughly 40 metres across with sheer 8-metre cliffs plunging into brilliant blue-green water. Unlike the famous Blue Lake in nearby Mount Gambier, this smaller sinkhole is open for swimming, snorkelling and cave diving year-round. The water clarity is exceptional, allowing snorkelers to see the steep, submerged volcanic walls descend into darkness toward the lake's maximum depth of 47 metres. A staircase and floating pontoon provide safe entry and exit at the artificial cutting on the south side. The water sits at a bracing 12 °C all year, so a wetsuit is essential for extended time in the water.","intermediate",null,"published",{"name":59,"amplitude":75,"phase":91,"latitude":22,"model":107,"epoch":108},[60,61,62,63,64,65,66,67,68,69,70,71,72,73,74],"2N2","J1","K1","K2","M2","M4","MF","MM","N2","O1","P1","Q1","S1","S2","T2",[76,77,78,79,80,81,82,83,84,85,86,87,88,89,90],0.0036449149981681184,0.009420108827505155,0.17766702636409787,0.03990487231839671,0.1314557343450511,0.00344434199033792,0.0054116540642942705,0.0038286068610277704,0.005546553069122516,0.13177045441585253,0.054310633555899254,0.032995961377520665,0.009366653043160738,0.13876419534909695,0.010008424187882312,[92,93,94,95,96,97,98,99,100,101,102,103,104,105,106],194.25990304732085,276.34672485963017,252.57602190224782,113.37590808347994,52.17881306796207,115.83606546982811,170.6645088356328,240.5962950746499,249.51745476903045,235.27828343350433,248.49987774712963,224.26740301574895,12.855032898414436,113.10366076383065,105.19213018130506,"EOT20","1992-01-01T00:00:00Z",[110,114,118],{"name":111,"description":112,"severity":113,"season_start":56,"season_end":56},"Extreme depth","The lake plunges abruptly from the pontoon to over 25 metres at the shallowest point, with a maximum depth of 47 metres.
