Lighthouse Reef lies off Whalers Bluff Lighthouse and Whalers Point Beach, about 1.5 km north of Portland on Victoria's Discovery Coast. This sheltered reef spans roughly 1.5 square nautical miles, with depths from 1–4 metres and white sand bottoms that can offer up to 20 metres of visibility on sunny, low-swell days. The reef teems with Weedy Seadragons, abalone, crayfish, cat sharks, and cuttlefish, and the wreck of the New Zealander lies nearby. Sheltered from south-west to north-west winds, it's best dived on easterly conditions with calm seas.
