Light Beach is a quiet, windswept stretch along the eastern shore of Gulf St Vincent on South Australia's Yorke Peninsula. This remote sandy beach offers calm, shallow inshore waters over seagrass beds, making it a peaceful spot for a gentle snorkel on a fine day. The beach sits within a coastal landscape of low dunes and saltbush, with expansive views across the gulf. It is one of a chain of lesser-known beaches north of Adelaide, valued for its solitude and unpretentious natural setting rather than flashy facilities. Best visited at high tide for easier water access.

Low risk: Shifting sandbars and shallow zones
Sandbars shift with tides and storms, creating unexpectedly shallow areas that can cause minor grounding for swimmers.
Low risk: Limited visibility after summer wind
Southerly winds (October to March) stir up fine sediments in the shallow gulf waters, reducing visibility significantly for snorkeling.
