The 1,179-metre-long granite breakwater wall runs east–west, sheltering Portland Harbour while creating a rocky reef habitat draped in seaweed. Snorkellers enter from the sandy Nuns Beach on the northern side, swimming along the barnacle-encrusted wall where depths range from 2 to 14 metres. The rocky wall is alive with Bluethroat Wrasse, Senator Wrasse, Scalyfin, Moonlighters, and the occasional Weedy Seadragon drifting through seagrass beds. Australian Fur Seals and Little Penguins (at night) add to the magic. This is a superb beginner-to-intermediate site with easy shore access, though visibility typically sits between 2–5 metres due to port sediment and easterly swell stirring the water.","beginner",null,"published",{"name":59,"amplitude":75,"phase":91,"latitude":22,"model":107,"epoch":108},[60,61,62,63,64,65,66,67,68,69,70,71,72,73,74],"2N2","J1","K1","K2","M2","M4","MF","MM","N2","O1","P1","Q1","S1","S2","T2",[76,77,78,79,80,81,82,83,84,85,86,87,88,89,90],0.0042156880471880195,0.01018687890272812,0.17719067490647597,0.038991572308003826,0.13008706372617224,0.003411639033620929,0.0052598922977803,0.00444313848454731,0.008934180545435011,0.1306209552364187,0.054607988031962075,0.033684994487025555,0.010153190844770468,0.13679199280720847,0.011935873548443285,[92,93,94,95,96,97,98,99,100,101,102,103,104,105,106],164.81877794608818,281.3254805989403,255.72802287811925,115.49375378058507,44.443082427305285,115.07915459182288,169.02806066981793,246.4019061295407,291.1766945383901,237.4092098304426,250.71204209281507,224.18044630931877,7.714665238233578,113.3329481198889,120.5075285582604,"EOT20","1992-01-01T00:00:00Z",[110,114,117,121,124,127,130,134,137,140,145,148,152,157,160,163,166,169,172,175,178],{"name":111,"description":112,"severity":113,"season_start":56,"season_end":56},"Fishing line entanglement","The breakwater is a very popular line-fishing spot.
