Lake Fellmongery, a crystal-clear freshwater lake in the heart of Robe on South Australia's Limestone Coast, offers a sheltered and serene snorkeling escape just steps from the town centre. Fed by natural springs, the lake's calm, tannin-stained but remarkably clear waters make it an ideal spot for beginners and families. Once a fellmongery (wool-scouring) site with a shipwreck-salvage history, today the lake is ringed by shady trees and is equally popular for swimming, paddleboarding, and kayaking. Its gentle conditions and easy shore access provide a safe, relaxed snorkeling experience away from ocean swells and currents.

Moderate risk: Boating activity
Lake Fellmongery is also used for waterskiing (Ski Lake). Snorkelers should stay clear of boating lanes and be aware of boat traffic, especially on weekends and holidays.
Low risk: Water temperature
Freshwater spring-fed lake can be cold year-round, especially at depth. A wetsuit is recommended for extended snorkeling.
Low risk: Weed beds near edges
Submerged aquatic vegetation near the shoreline can entangle fins or limbs. Enter and exit via clear sandy patches.
