La Perouse Point sits on the northern headland of Kamay Botany Bay National Park, where the sheltered waters between Bare Island and the mainland create a calm, beginner-friendly snorkeling haven. The rocky reef and sandy gutters around the historic Bare Island fort — famously featured in Mission: Impossible 2 — are teeming with life. Entry is via Congwong Beach or from the grassy parkland near the bridge, with easy shore access and excellent visibility (10–30 m). The site offers a rich mix of shallow reef, seagrass beds, and artificial structures that attract a dazzling array of marine life.

Low risk: Boat traffic
Botany Bay sees recreational boat traffic; stay aware near the channel and keep close to shore.
