Tucked behind the dunes of Crowdy Bay National Park on the NSW Mid North Coast, Kylies Beach offers a serene snorkeling escape. On the southern side of the headland, a calm, crystal-clear inlet provides protected waters that are ideal for snorkeling and kayaking, while rocky outcrops at the northern end harbour fascinating rock pools to explore. Named after Australian author Kylie Tennant, whose timber hut retreat sits nearby, this uncrowded beach is a haven for those seeking tranquil conditions away from the surf. The adjacent campground makes it easy to spend days discovering the clear shallows and the diverse marine life they attract.

High risk: Rip currents
Unpatrolled open beach with strong rips common, especially along the main surf-exposed shoreline.
Moderate risk: Unpatrolled Beach
Kylies Beach is not patrolled by lifeguards. No red-and-yellow flags are in operation. Swim with caution and check conditions before entering.
Moderate risk: Strong Rip Currents
Rip currents can form along the beach, particularly in the open surf zone. The safest swimming area is the protected southern inlet.
Moderate risk: Beach erosion & vehicle access closure
Significant erosion has made vehicle access to the beach dangerous; the beach access point is closed indefinitely. Snorkelers must walk from the campground.
Moderate risk: Isolated location
Remote beach within a national park with no lifeguards, limited mobile reception, and no nearby medical facilities.
Low risk: Limited Mobile Reception
Mobile phone reception is unreliable in the park, making it difficult to call for emergency help. Download the Emergency Plus app before visiting.
Low risk: Changing tides at creek inlet
The southern inlet offers calm snorkeling but tidal flows can shift, with outgoing currents potentially pulling toward the open ocean.
