Tucked between Port Fairy and Warrnambool on Victoria's Shipwreck Coast, Killarney Beach is a gentle, reef-sheltered crescent of soft sand where calm, lagoon-like waters lap the shore. Offshore reefs break the swell, creating a safe, shallow paddling zone perfect for snorkeling and family swimming. Backed by low dunes and coastal wetlands, the beach offers a peaceful escape with excellent birdwatching. Winter visitors may spot Southern Right whales passing by. The water is noticeably warmer and flatter than open-ocean beaches, making it a reliable choice for a relaxed snorkel.

Low risk: Seasonal dog restrictions on part of beach
Dogs prohibited from 9 am to 6 pm between 1 December and Easter Monday on sections of the beach.
Low risk: Variable reef exposure at low tide
Offshore reefs that shelter the beach become very shallow at low tide, exposing rocks and limiting snorkelable area.
Low risk: Shallow Water Depth
The lagoon is generally only a couple of metres deep — swimmers and snorkelers should be cautious when diving or jumping in to avoid contact with the sandy bottom.
