Jetty Beach is a protected, north-facing crescent of golden sand nestled beside the iconic Coffs Harbour Jetty on the NSW North Coast. Sheltered by the jetty itself and the adjacent breakwall, its calm, shallow waters create an ideal natural pool for beginner snorkelers and families. The sandy bottom gradually shelves into seagrass beds and low rocky reef habitat where juvenile fish seek refuge. On-site accessible pathways, a beach ramp, and free beach wheelchairs make this one of the region's most inclusive snorkelling entry points. On calm days, visibility is excellent close to the jetty pylons, which are encrusted with sponges, ascidians, and oysters — a microcosm of the marine life found further offshore in the Solitary Islands Marine Park.

Moderate risk: Hazardous surf during storms
During coastal storms, hazardous surf conditions can impact the otherwise calm harbour beach, making entry unsafe.
Low risk: Boat Traffic
Proximity to the marina and jetty means boat and jet ski traffic in the area; snorkelers should stay aware and within designated swimming areas.
Low risk: Stinger Season (Bluebottles)
Bluebottles (Physalia physalis) can be blown into the bay during north-easterly winds, typically in warmer months.
Low risk: Outgoing Tide Current
An outgoing tide can create a gentle current flowing out of the harbour; less experienced swimmers should be mindful near the breakwall entrance.
Low risk: Boat traffic near jetty channel
Boat traffic entering and leaving Coffs Harbour Marina passes close to the beach. Snorkelers should stay within the marked swimming area and be alert for vessel movements near the jetty channel.
Low risk: Tidal current around jetty pylons
The tidal flow can pick up speed around the jetty pylons and at the beach's eastern end near the breakwall, particularly on an outgoing tide.
Low risk: Coffs Creek Outflow Current
The Coffs Creek outlet next to the jetty can create strong outflow currents after heavy rain or king tides, especially near the creek mouth.
Low risk: Bluebottle Jellyfish
Bluebottle jellyfish (Physalia physalis) can be blown into the bay by onshore winds, particularly in summer.
Low risk: Patrolled Swimming Area Only
The area is patrolled but swimmers and snorkelers must stay between the red and yellow flags.
Low risk: Outgoing tide current near Coffs Creek mouth
Coffs Creek flows into the harbour near the beach and can run quickly on an outgoing tide, posing a risk to swimmers and snorkelers.
