A pristine 30-hectare marine sanctuary in Williamstown, just 20 minutes from Melbourne's CBD, offering a remarkable diversity of habitats within a compact area. The western side features saltmarsh and Victoria's only mangroves growing on a basalt coast, while the eastern side has weathered basalt rockpools, submerged boulders, and ledges. Sandy beaches separate the clay and rocky shores. Snorkelers can explore shallow reefs less than 4m deep, gliding over seagrass beds, colourful sponges, and coralline algae gardens, with several heritage-listed shipwrecks visible to divers offshore.
