Moderate risk: Ocean swell and choppy seas
Exposed offshore reef can experience significant swell and rough conditions. Snorkel only when seas are calm and swell minimal.
Moderate risk: Strong currents
Tidal currents and rips can develop around the reef, especially during changing tides.
Low risk: Boat traffic
Located 1.2 km offshore, boat traffic may be present. Snorkellers should be vigilant and use a dive flag.
Low risk: Cold water temperatures
Victorian coastal waters are cold year-round. A thick wetsuit (5-7mm) is essential for comfort and safety.
Low risk: Limited shore access
Requires a boat or kayak to reach from Anglesea coastline. Not a shore-entry snorkel site.
