Horizon Divers is a premier dive and snorkel operator in the remote Cocos (Keeling) Islands, a tropical atoll in the Indian Ocean. They run guided snorkelling tours across the turquoise lagoon and to the world-renowned Direction Island 'The Rip' — a dramatic channel where currents sweep over pristine coral gardens. With average visibility of 25 metres, warm crystalline waters, and shallow reef terrain, this spot offers uncrowded access to hard and soft coral bommies, making it a top-tier snorkelling destination in one of Australia's most isolated island outposts.

Moderate risk: Tidal Current at The Rip
Strong tidal currents can sweep through the Direction Island channel ('The Rip'), pushing snorkellers away from the reef. Only experienced swimmers should snorkel here without a guide.
Low risk: Sharp Coral
Sharp coral heads and bommies are present in shallow lagoon reefs. Contact can cause cuts and abrasions.
Low risk: Stingers / Box Jellyfish
Marine stingers (box jellyfish) may be present during the warmer months.
Low risk: Remote Location - Limited Medical Facilities
The remote location means medical facilities are limited. West Island has a small clinic, but serious emergencies require evacuation.
