Hoopers Beach is a secluded 150-metre-long sandy cove wedged between two low rocky headlands near Robe on South Australia's dramatic Limestone Coast. The beach is flanked by rock platforms that shelter interesting tidal pools and shallow snorkeling terrain, while the clear Southern Ocean waters offer visibility over the rocky reef habitat. Quieter and more intimate than nearby Long Beach, Hoopers Beach rewards snorkelers with a natural, untamed setting, caves and swim-throughs along the rocky edges, and a sense of coastal wilderness just minutes from Robe township.

Moderate risk: Rip Currents
Strong rip currents can develop, particularly near the rocky headlands. Swim with caution and between the flags if patrolled.
Low risk: Ocean Swells
Exposed to Southern Ocean swells which can produce powerful surf and dumping waves, especially during winter and spring.
Low risk: Drop-offs and Rocks
Sudden drop-offs and submerged rocks near the headlands pose collision risks. Wear fins and watch for surge.
Low risk: Rocky reef sections
Rocky reef areas at each end of the beach have sharp edges and uneven footing. Best to enter and exit via the sandy centre.
Low risk: Southern Ocean swell
Although generally calm, occasional large swells can break over the reef during winter storms or windy conditions.
Low risk: Rocky reef sections at beach ends
Sharp and uneven reef rocks at the northern and southern ends of the beach can cause cuts if waded over barefoot.
