Hole in the Wall is a serene, little-known beach tucked within Booderee National Park on the southern side of Jervis Bay. Named for a now-collapsed sandstone arch that once pierced the rocky headland at its northeastern end, this sheltered cove offers calm, crystal-clear waters perfect for snorkeling. The beach is flanked by low sandstone cliffs and native bushland, creating a secluded feel. Underwater, rocky reefs and sandy patches provide habitat for soft corals, reef fish, and the occasional octopus. A short 400-metre walk from the car park leads down to the sand, keeping the spot quiet even in peak season.

Low risk: Collapsed rock formation
The sandstone arch that gave the beach its name has collapsed. Loose rock and unstable sections remain near the northeastern headland — avoid climbing or entering the water directly below overhangs.
Low risk: Rocky reef hazards
Submerged sandstone ledges and rocky reef areas near the shoreline can be sharp. Swim fins and careful entry/exit are recommended to avoid cuts and scrapes.
Low risk: Strong tidal currents at headland
Around the headland points, tidal movement can create unexpected currents. Snorkelers should stay within the main sheltered cove area.
Low risk: Collapsed rock structure
The iconic sandstone 'hole' has collapsed, leaving unstable rock debris along the northeastern end of the beach.
Low risk: Sharp reef rocks
Shallow and deep-water rock reefs near shore have sharp edges — wear protective footwear.
