Nestled between massive granite headlands in Cape Le Grand National Park, Hellfire Bay is a stunning crescent of powdery white sand and impossibly turquoise water. The bay's sheltered orientation delivers calm, crystal-clear conditions ideal for snorkelling, with rocky outcrops on both sides providing excellent habitat for reef fish. The shallow, sandy entry makes it accessible for all skill levels, while the dramatic granite boulders framing the bay create a truly spectacular backdrop. Accessed via sealed road about 60 km east of Esperance, it's a favourite for families and snorkellers alike.

  • Moderate risk: Strong rips and currents

Rips and strong currents can develop, particularly in rougher conditions. The beach is unpatrolled with no lifeguards.

  • Low risk: Southerly swell exposure

Although generally sheltered, the bay can be affected by large southerly swells, especially during winter months (May–September), making entry and exit hazardous.

  • Low risk: Slippery granite rocks

The granite outcrops on either side of the bay can be extremely slippery when wet or covered in algae. Take care when exploring the rocky edges.
