Hanging Rock is an offshore reef dive site on the Outer Gneerings, about 15 minutes by boat from Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast. Named for its signature rocky overhang, the site features a lively 5-metre wall that stretches 50 metres, covered in colourful plate corals and teeming with tropical marine life. With a maximum depth of 19 metres, it's suitable for divers of all levels — from beginners to advanced — and is a favourite for spotting nudibranchs, eagle rays, turtles, moray eels, and the ever-popular clownfish among the vibrant coral gardens.

Getting in
The site is reached by boat from Mooloolaba, Sunshine Coast — about 1 hour drive north of Brisbane or 30 minutes south of Sunshine Coast Airport. Check in at Sunreef, Shop 11-12, The Wharf Mooloolaba, 123 Parkyn Parade, Mooloolaba QLD 4557. The boat ride takes approximately 15 minutes from the river mouth.
The Wharf complex has 4-hour parking available, plus some unlimited parking spaces outside the SEA Life car park. Give at least 15-20 minutes to find parking, especially for afternoon trips.
