Halfway Wall sits midway between North Horn and False Entrance along Osprey Reef's western flank in the remote Coral Sea. This spectacular wall dive site features a steep drop-off plunging over 1,000 metres into the abyss, with several coral bommies rising from around 20 metres near the mooring line. Known for its crystal-clear waters (30–100m visibility) and abundant pelagic marine life, it offers snorkellers and divers an unforgettable encounter with the wild, pristine edge of Australia's Coral Sea Marine Park — a true oceanic wilderness far from the mainland.

The wall drops from the surface to over 1,000 metres. Snorkellers must stay near the mooring line and bommies to avoid drifting over the abyss.
Moderate risk: Ocean currents
Strong currents can sweep along the wall, particularly during tidal changes, making it challenging to maintain position.
Moderate risk: Extreme remoteness
Located 300 km offshore, the site is reachable only by multi-day boat. Emergency evacuation is very difficult and slow.
Low risk: Shark encounters
Grey reef sharks, white tip reef sharks, and occasionally hammerheads are commonly sighted. While generally not aggressive, their presence requires caution and respect.
