Moderate risk: Swell and surge
The exposed coastline receives consistent Southern Ocean swell, producing powerful surge around rocky outcrops and ledges.
Low risk: Changing tides
Tidal flows around the headland and through channels can create unexpected currents during tide changes.
Low risk: Sharp limestone reef
Exposed and shallow limestone formations can be razor-sharp; cuts and scrapes are common without proper footwear.
Low risk: Remote access
Limited mobile reception and distance from emergency services — self-sufficiency is essential.
