Garden of Eden (also called Eden) is a world-class outer reef wall site on the Cocos (Keeling) Islands atoll in the Indian Ocean. This dramatic multi-level reef drops from a shallow coral-capped plateau (5–10 m) into a deep wall (18–30 m) where pelagics patrol the blue. Crystal-clear visibility (25–40 m), dense hard and soft coral gardens, and swirling clouds of anthias, butterflyfish, and surgeonfish create a saturated underwater paradise. Whitetip reef sharks, turtles, and manta rays are regular visitors, while the endemic Cocos pygmy angelfish and yellow-headed angelfish hide among the coral heads. The site is a signature highlight of the atoll, accessed only by boat with local guides.

Moderate risk: Outer reef currents
Strong currents can occur along the drop-off wall, particularly during tidal changes. Drift diving conditions are common.
Moderate risk: Remote location
Limited medical facilities on the remote atoll — the nearest hyperbaric chamber is on the mainland.
Low risk: Swell and surge
Ocean swell can affect the site, especially during trade wind months (April–September), making entry and exit challenging.
