Tucked between rocky headlands just south of Mosquito Bay, Garden Bay is a compact 100 m sandy beach offering novice-friendly snorkelling straight off the shore. The folded rock formations of the headlands continue underwater, forming gutters, overhangs and submerged rocky ridges where bullseye fish gather and large cuttlefish have been spotted in winter. The colourful pebbly beach and sheltered inshore waters make it a family favourite, though the bay can be exposed in north-easterly and easterly winds.

Low risk: Northeasterly wind exposure
The bay is fairly exposed in north-easterly and easterly winds, which can create choppy conditions.
Low risk: Submerged rocky ridges
Waves can break over submerged rocky ridges if there is any ocean swell, presenting a collision hazard for swimmers and snorkellers.
Low risk: Swell waves
Swelling ocean conditions can make the inshore area unsafe, especially when combined with easterly winds.
