Shark Alley at Flat Rock is a world-renowned dive and snorkel site off the coast of North Stradbroke Island, Queensland. This underwater alley on the eastern edge of the Flat Rock reef formation is the premier winter aggregation site for endangered Grey Nurse Sharks (sand tiger sharks), where dozens of these gentle giants glide through the clear water between rocky ledges. The reef rises from 28 m to 12 m on either side of the alley, creating a dramatic topography surrounded by vibrant coral gardens. Beyond the sharks, the site teems with wobbegongs, eagle rays, cownose rays, turtles, barracuda, and seasonal humpback whales passing by on their annual migration. Strong currents and deep water make this an advanced spot best visited with a guided tour.
