Nestled along Marine Parade in Manly, Fairy Bower is a sheltered cove and 20-metre historic rockpool sitting within the Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve — a protected no-take zone teeming with marine life. The calm, clear waters here are ideal for snorkelling over rocky reef gardens, where you can drift past colourful fish, visit the tidal ocean pool carved into the sandstone headland, and enjoy stunning views across to North Head. It's one of Sydney's most accessible and rewarding snorkelling gems, just steps from the Manly to Shelly Beach coastal walk.

Moderate risk: Strong rip currents outside cove
Rip currents can develop beyond the sheltered cove near the headland points, particularly on outgoing tides.
Low risk: Rocks and reef at entry
The shore entry involves walking over slippery, uneven rocks and platforms. Sharp barnacles and sea urchins are present.
Low risk: Swell surge
Moderate southerly and easterly swells can create surge zones near the rock platforms, pushing snorkelers into the rocks.
Low risk: Boat traffic
The outer edge of the cove sees small boat and kayak traffic entering and exiting Manly Harbour.
Low risk: Bluebottle jellyfish
Bluebottles (Physalia physalis) are occasionally blown into the cove with onshore northeasterly winds.
