Factory Bay is a sheltered 400-metre-wide rocky bay just 1 km west of Robe township on South Australia's Limestone Coast. Accessed via the scenic Adam Gordon Lindsay Drive, this calm bay offers protected waters ideal for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. Rocky reef sections bookend the beach, where snorkelers can explore small crevices and limestone formations close to shore. With its gentle wave action and easy shore entry, Factory Bay is a local favourite for a quiet, relaxed dip away from the main beach crowds.

Occasional southerly swells can create moderate surge near the reef edges.
Low risk: Ocean swell
Swell from the Southern Ocean can create powerful surge conditions along the exposed reef, especially during winter months.
Low risk: Rip currents
Rips can develop along the sandy stretches adjacent to the rocky reef, particularly on outgoing tides and during higher swell.
