Escape Island is a small limestone island situated off the coast of Jurien Bay within the Jurien Bay Marine Park, a protected sanctuary on Western Australia's Coral Coast. The island is surrounded by shallow, crystal-clear turquoise waters, vibrant limestone reefs, and sandy patches that host a diverse array of marine life. Snorkelers reach this idyllic spot by boat tour, where the calm, sheltered bays around the island offer excellent visibility and the chance to explore coral bommies and rocky crevices. The site is renowned less for its own name and more as part of the rich snorkeling playground that makes the Turquoise Coast a premier destination.

Low risk: Variable weather and swell
Exposed island location means conditions can change quickly with onshore winds and winter swell, reducing visibility and making snorkeling uncomfortable or unsafe.
Low risk: Boat traffic
Access is exclusively by boat or tour vessel; snorkelers share the water with incoming and outgoing boats near the island.
Low risk: Marine stings
Box jellyfish and irukandji may be present during warmer months (Nov–May); stinger suits recommended.
