Stretching 220 km of pristine white sand between Broome and Port Hedland, Eighty Mile Beach is a remote Pilbara paradise where turquoise Indian Ocean waters meet one of Australia's most important migratory bird rookeries. This Ramsar-listed wetland hosts over half a million shorebirds annually and offers spectacular sunsets, shell-strewn shores at low tide, and world-class surf fishing for threadfin salmon and mulloway. The beach is firm enough for 4WD driving, making it easy to find your own secluded stretch of sand.

Moderate risk: Sharks
Sharks are common in the waters off Eighty Mile Beach. Swimming is not recommended due to frequent shark sightings and the remote location with no lifeguards.
Moderate risk: Isolation and remoteness
The nearest town is Port Hedland 250 km south or Broome 365 km north. Limited mobile reception and no medical facilities nearby. Travel with充足 supplies and a fully equipped vehicle.
Low risk: Strong tidal currents
The wide tidal flats experience strong incoming and outgoing currents, particularly around tidal changes. The beach has a very shallow gradient exposing vast sand flats at low tide.
Low risk: Box jellyfish
Box jellyfish (and other marine stingers) may be present in warmer months, common in tropical northern Australian waters.
