Eagle's Nest is a dramatic rocky headland and beach on the Bunurong Coastal Drive between Inverloch and Cape Paterson in Victoria's Gippsland region. This striking sandstone formation resembles an eagle's aerie perched above a wild, windswept beach. The rugged coastline offers a sense of raw natural power with rocky platforms, tidal pools, and sweeping views along the Bass Coast. On calm days, the sheltered edges of the rock formation provide interesting snorkeling among shallow gutters and boulder gardens, though conditions change quickly with the swell.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Moderate risk: Rough surf and swell

The exposed headland catches southerly swells, creating strong dumpers and surging waves that make entry dangerous on rough days.

  • Low risk: Slippery rock platforms

The intertidal rock platforms surrounding Eagle's Nest are covered in algae and extremely slippery when wet.

  • Low risk: Changing tides

Tidal currents and rising water levels can isolate snorkelers on rock platforms or cut off beach access points.
