Tucked between Redpatch and West Points in Port Stephens, Dutchmans Beach (aka "Dutchies") is a 400-metre north-facing pocket of golden sand with exceptionally calm, shallow waters. Sheltered by the headlands, the clear bay offers easy shore-entry snorkelling over sandy bottoms dotted with seagrass beds. The protected, low-energy conditions make it supremely family-friendly — more like paddling in a lake than open ocean — and the adjacent reserve park provides a lush backdrop for a full day out.

Low risk: Boat traffic near channel
The beach sits near the Port Stephens channel where recreational boats and ferries transit; stay alert near the eastern end.
Low risk: Stinger jellyfish
Bluebottle jellyfish can drift into the bay during warmer months (Nov–Mar), particularly after northerly winds.
Low risk: Shallow sandbars
The shallow sandy bottom shifts with swell and tide; sandbars can appear unexpectedly close to shore.
