Dungeons & Dragons is a world-class snorkeling and dive site perched on the remote outer edge of Bougainville Reef in the Coral Sea, roughly 220 km northeast of Cairns. This site is famed for its colossal hard coral formations — massive bommies and table corals the size of small cars — that rise from a shallow terrace at 20–30 metres before plunging into a seemingly bottomless abyss. The sheer reef wall is draped in sea fans and soft corals, while the waters above teem with pelagic life. Named for the dramatic, otherworldly coral architecture that resembles a fantasy landscape, it offers some of the most pristine, clear-water snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef, accessible only by liveaboard expedition.
