Dora Point is a serene granite-fringed headland within the Humbug Point Nature Recreation Area at the southern end of the famed Bay of Fires. Calm translucent coves and sandy gulches nestled among orange-lichened boulders create idyllic conditions for snorkelling, with shallow tidal pools to explore. The area offers secluded beach access away from the crowds, with crystal-clear waters perfect for spotting abalone and rock lobsters. The coastal bushland backdrop, peppered with she-oaks and boobialla, adds to the wild, unspoilt feel of this north-east Tasmanian gem.

Low risk: Swell and Surge Around Point
The exposed headland at Dora Point can experience significant swell and surging waves, especially during high swell or full moon events. The coves are generally sheltered but caution is needed at the point itself.
Low risk: Snakes on Access Tracks
The walking tracks to Dora Point pass through dry sclerophyll bushland where tiger snakes may be encountered, particularly on warm sunny days.
